Whilst
living and teaching in Cairo, Egypt, Barbara Jones began to research
methods to improve her immune system and movement potential after
a major car accident.
In 1991, Barbara began
the Feldenkrais Method four year training
programme in the USA. She overcame the movement difficulties related
to the accident trauma and enriched her teaching methods. Moshe
Feldenkrais, the founder of the Feldenkrais Method based his training
programme on ‘how we learn to learn’, the philosophy
and practical help and advice applied to all areas of our lives.
The Feldenkrais Method not only helps those who have physical movement
difficulties but also supports people who are working at a high
level of excellence such as singers, dancers, athletes and musicians.
The Feldenkrais Method helps us all to develop to our full level
of potential.
Recognizing the need
for emotional balance for total wellness Barbara began the Bach
Flower Remedies Training at the Dr Edward Bach Centre, UK and
completed it in 1997. Recognizing the relationship of our emotional
states to well being, Barbara began to help her clients and students
seeking emotional balance, completing the Bach Trainers Programme
with the Dr Edward Bach Centre, UK in 2004.
Barbara found the Bowtec®
Bowen Technique Training, completed in
1997, particularly effective for difficult to treat problems such
as frozen shoulder and knee problems. Many of Barbara’s clients
continue with regular sessions to improve their immune system, respiratory
system and to de–stress when the seasons change.
Barbara developed the
Rhythmic Energised Soft Touch (REST)
Therapy over 10 years. Developed out her love for music and rhythm,
Feldenkrais concepts, study of Naturopathy and Chinese Medicine,
it continually surprises her how deeply effective REST is for multi-layered
problems. As a new approach to wellness, Barbara plans to teach
this therapy to others, so that they can use it professionally.
The Crystal
Singing Bowls are for those who want to transform their lives
and connect with their own personal wellness potential and higher
self. Barbara works with the bowls extensively, developing her own
Therapeutic Sound Bath Experience and running Crystal Singing Bowl
Healing Sound Workshops for those interested to learn more.
As a Special
Needs Specialist, Barbara holds an M.A.Ed (Inclusive Education/Special
Needs) and specializes in movement and learning development. Barbara,
created TransformAction, a movement programme for everyone but particularly
parents, teachers and caregivers. TransformAction
develops the basic principles of breathing, learning to give and
receive nurture and our feelings of safety and security in the community.
Consisting of 3 x 4 hour workshops, benefits can immediately be
felt. Developed to enable the participants to move through designated
Levels of Access, Confidence and Mastery, the programme takes you
back to the very beginnings of your learning process, to relearn
and reclaim a full spectrum of functional movement, leading to active
stress-free fulfilling lives.
