TransformAction
– revisit your early movement programming and rewrite your script
This series of workshops will help you to access your unexplored movement
potential When we have access to positive movement strategies we are
able to create a positive framework for all aspects of our life, including
our relationships, our work and our play. We learn to try less to
achieve more.
Think about learning to ride
a bicycle….
To begin with there were so many instructions and so much to remember
but mostly related to don’t…. because you were doing too
much of everything, something we all do when we try to learn a new skill.
We learn our motor skills by eliminating excessive movement.
Gradually, perhaps after a grazed knee and a few tears, the unnecessary
movements where reduced until only the basic framework necessary for
balance remained. Mastery took a little more time but your overall success,
your speed of learning and your sense of achievement always relates
to your earliest learning experiences because that is where the foundations
are laid.
It is never too late to revisit,
relearn and reabsorb positive movements strategies.
Workshops 1 - 3
These cutting edge movement workshops enable the individual to explore
their basic needs of breathing, nurture and security. Whilst developing
the skills of self-awareness, creative curiosity, and observation through
developing functional movement. Each workshop is designed to be revisited
at three levels.
Levels A, C and M
Level A - Access,
Level C- Confidence
Level M- Mastery.
All workshops will vary to
accommodate the needs and level of the individual and of the group as
you evolve in your journey to discover your true potential.
Workshop 1 –
Arrival
When we arrive somewhere after an eventful journey we take a deep breath.
This is a spontaneous moment of revisiting the momentous journey and
arrival of our birth. The first breath of air, the breath of life. is
a vital moment in our life as we move from the life support of our mother
to being a separate individual. Few of us made a perfect entry, and
for many, the nature of arrival and the first breath may have been a
traumatic experience. Through gentle movement exploration you can redefine
your beginning and lay down a whole new template on which to build your
foundations.
Developmentally these early
movements relate to extension and flexion of the spine, Barbara guides
the group, whilst each individual works at their own pace. The lessons
in this workshop will take place whilst lying on a mat on the floor.
Workshop 2 – Nurture
After the essential breath comes our need for food and nurture. Working
initially through our sense of smell, the first of our senses to fully
develop, we begin to explore and develop the movements of the neck and
back. When these initial explorations are positive, our spine supports
ease and freedom of movement. This workshop offers the opportunity to
explore this developmental process and reclaim the ability to turn our
neck and head with ease. Each vertebra knows how to freely rotate and
you will begin to access this capability and refine it by connecting
to your senses. Through accessing the primary movements of the mouth
and eyes, the head, neck and spine become freer and lighter.
Workshop 3 – Security
Learning to move from our backs to our fronts is an essential part of
our learning development and survival. Exploring the world from a different
orientations creates the need for finer tuned awareness skills as the
need for safety and security begin to evolve. When this evolution is
developed through playful curiosity and full use of our senses, the
positive experience helps create a complete sense of self. Fear and
anxiety create an anxious, nervous, or even aggressive responses to
the world where any change can feel life threatening.. Through gentle
movement you will explore your world from all sides of yourself with
the curiosity of a child to find your safe secure place. The health
and function of your back can be greatly improved with this easy to
do workshop as you learn to use the whole of yourself, you will feel
more comfortable with the changing world around you.
